Description

Paperback Zine by Len Tilbürger and Chris P. Kale

“Veganism and concern for the plight of animals are commonplace in punk. This zine investigates the relationship using interview material and participant observation to examine the issues and tensions in the UK context. It is argued that punk and veganism/animal rights are best understood in conjunction with anarchist politics, particularly in an anarchist deployment of the theory of intersectionality.

Themes considered include: how punk expresses or engages with veganism/animal rights; the politicising role of punk towards veganism/animal rights; the tension between subcultural expectations and individual choice; and the supposed opposition between ‘mere’ consumption and ‘meaningful’ activism.”
